Summer is traditionally the season for me to be performing magic at weddings, and it’s fair to say that this year has been no exception and over this rather hot summer I’ve attended a lot of weddings. I’ve also been performing at a few other events, and recently a few celebrations for adult birthday dinner parties.
I say “adult” to avoid confusion with with children’s birthday parties – there’s nothing “blue” in my performance. There’s just no puppets or balloon models! 😉
On Sunday afternoon I entertained at Mike’s birthday celebration at The Red House, a lovely country pub in a village called Marsh Benham, which is between Hungerford and Newbury in West Berkshire. I’ve been to The Red House before, that time was for a Christmas party, and when I pulled up into the car park snow started to fall. This Sunday was a little warmer and as I was early I relaxed in the garden with a glass of Diet Coke whilst I prepared my box of tricks.
Mike had a private room where he was joined by about a dozen of his family and friends, and there were all sat around a single large dining table. After they had finished their main course I commenced working my way around the table, getting all the guests involved with a variety of tricks. Also as it was a small group and there was a wide range of ages, so I had to ensure that there was something for everyone.
Towards the end I also performed a little cabaret for the whole group.
The following day Mike sent me an email to say thanks:
Just a quick note to say again how much we all enjoyed your show. The kids in particular were fascinated and couldn’t get enough of your tricks! It really finished the afternoon off with a bang and young and not so young all thoroughly enjoyed it.
So many thanks and be assured that we will recommend you to any of our friends looking for a magician.
Best Wishes, Mike & Maggie
