Welcome to my October 2026 newsletter. This time we have a look at my social media, my wardrobe, BBC Radio interview, 20 years in magic and Christmas parties.

Social Media
If you haven’t followed me already on social media, please do! This year I’ve been putting in more effort to be social – at least in the “social media” sense – and putting up more content.
I don’t have loads of followers, and must admit that I’m not really doing it to grow my audience. My goal as a magician is to perform for real people at real parties, wedding and events – not to be the next internet sensation with a viral video.
The reason I use social media is so that those that haven’t seen me performing in the flesh have the opportunity to see that I’m actually out every week really performing at events across the country.
Saying that, I want to make sure those that already know and follow me are engaged, so let me know what you’d like to see more of on my social feeds.

Robert’s Changing Styles
When I’m performing at an event, no matter what type, I make sure I look smart; and am never (knowingly!) underdressed. I also try to make sure that I’m not too overdressed – I don’t want to turn up to a relaxed garden barbeque wearing full black-tie…!
My wardrobe has expanded over the years, and I try to complement the event that I’m at; from being appropriately dressed, through to ties and pocket-squares fitting the colour themes of the event.
This may not seem important by itself, and for many guests they won’t even notice – at least not consciously.
But these details do matter, and when combined with good quality sleight-of-hand, engaging mindreading and great entertainment; it does elevate the event for the guests.

Interview on BBC Radio
I was recently invited to BBC Radio Berkshire, and I was interviewed about my 20 years as a professional magician by presenter Lucy Horobin on the lunchtime show.
Lucy asked me how I got interested in performing magic as a hobby (and it wasn’t as a kid with a magic set!) and how I managed to transition it into a full time career.
With thousands of performances under my belt I’ve performed in lots of situations, so it was nice to talk about some of the interesting ones. I definitely have plenty of fun memories and good stories.
Naturally I was asked to perform some magic and mindreading live on air, which I did. (And Lucy really put me to the test – she wasn’t just playing along!)

20 Years of Magic
Amazingly October 2026 marks my 20th year as a full-time professional magician. Even after all this time people are still surprised by that, including myself!
I must admit that twenty years ago when I handed in my notice for the “proper job” (I was a mortgage adviser) I wasn’t too sure how long I would last as a magician. The worst case was it would be a few months, and if I could do it for a few years then that would be a bonus.
Whilst performing at a recent event one of the guests recognised me. This isn’t unusual, having performed at thousands of events over the years I am regularly spotted. The crazy thing was this was a chap who remembered performing card tricks on a night out in a pub when magic was a hobby for me.
It just shows that even then I was making an impact and creating memories.
Get in contact to find out how I can entertain at your next event, and give your guests an experience they’ll remember for over 20 years.
