Professional entertainment for your wedding
Hiring an Event Planner may be the Smartest Move
Planning an event is exciting — but let’s be honest, it can also be overwhelming. Whether it’s a wedding, milestone birthday, corporate event, or anniversary celebration; there are lots of things to coordinate, and not all of them can be obvious.
Bringing in a professional event planner isn’t just a luxury; it can save you time, money, and stress while making your event truly unforgettable.

Below, we’ll explore why hiring an expert is worth it, especially when planning one of the biggest days of your life: your wedding.
Expertise You Can Rely On
Event planners live and breathe logistics. They know timelines, vendor lead times, seasonal trends, and hidden pitfalls that first-time planners might miss.
- For a wedding, that means knowing exactly when to send invitations, book a photographer, or order the cake.
- They can anticipate issues before they arise and handle them without you ever noticing.
Think of it this way: you wouldn’t perform your own dental work after watching some videos on YouTube!
They Have Connections That Can Save You Money (and Stress)
Event planners often have established relationships with trusted florists, caterers, entertainers (especially magicians, but as you’re here already you don’t need an event planner for that!), and venues. This can lead to:
- Better rates thanks to industry discounts.
- Priority service because vendors value the relationship with the planner.
- Quality assurance because they use suppliers they can trust based on previous experience.
When it comes to weddings, those connections can mean a top-tier photographer or in-demand band that would have otherwise been booked solid. Essentially if you book a supplier for your wedding they know it’s going to be a one-off event, but if an event planner books a supplier the it could just one of many events that year – and hence the supplier wants to keep the event planner happy to get more jobs. (Or to put it another way, the event planner is buying in volume.)
It’s still Your Vision, Perfectly Executed

A professional planner doesn’t take over your day — they bring your ideas to life.
- They listen to your vision, refine it, and make it feasible within your budget.
- They suggest creative touches you may never have thought of.
- They have experience to know what works – and critically, what doesn’t. (I have plenty of stories about great ideas that fell flat, ask me about them!)
For weddings, that could mean designing a seamless flow from ceremony to reception, ensuring every detail matches your style and story. And of course booking me to entertain your wedding guests does exactly that, but you don’t need a wedding planner to tell you!
Stress-Free Problem Solving
Even the best planned events encounter hiccups, this can be weather changes, last-minute guest cancellations, or an unforeseen delay.
- With a professional, these issues are handled behind the scenes, so you stay blissfully unaware.
- You get to focus on your guests and the celebration, not on fixing problems.
For example, I once performed at a wedding where the DJ went to the wrong hotel! Fortunately I could keep the guests entertained with close-up magic on a summer’s evening whilst the DJ chucked all his kit in the back of the van and drove to the right venue to set up again!
Event Planner Are There on the Day
This isn’t very obvious, but for many venues the person at the venue who is the wedding and event coordinator DOESN’T WORK ON SATURDAYS or evenings!!!
Yes, you’ll spend months discussing the details of your wedding to create the perfect vision, only to find out that the person you have been liaising with won’t actually be there themselves to oversee it.
I often find that brides and grooms book me and are happy liaising with me directly, but a couple of weeks before the big day they drop me an email to say they’ve brought in a wedding planner to oversee the running on the day. This is because not only is juggling all the moving parts of a wedding stressful (as previously mentioned), but they find out the coordinator will be delegating to a junior member of staff.

You Actually Get to Enjoy Your Event!
Perhaps the most overlooked advantage: you’re free to enjoy yourself!
On your wedding day you should be enjoying every moment. You don’t want to be wearing a watch and looking at schedules, or worrying that the caterers know the correct dietary requirements, that suppliers are turning up at the right time, and they are correctly prepared to do the job they are booked to do.
And if something goes wrong (no matter how minor) you don’t want to be having to deal with issues – even if it’s getting a text message from a supplier to say they are stuck in traffic and will be 10 minutes late.
A wedding and event planner will be this buffer.
There will likely be “emergencies” that happen on the day that you don’t even know about – and that is how it should be.
Final Thoughts about Wedding and Event Planners
Hiring a professional event planner isn’t about extravagance — it’s about peace of mind. They bring expertise, creativity, and calm to what can otherwise be a stressful process. For a wedding, this means you can focus entirely on the joy of the occasion, knowing every detail is being handled with care.
Your event (especially your wedding day) is a special occasion, and a once-in-a-lifetime moment. A professional wedding and event planner ensures you can actually enjoy it, while they work behind the scenes to make it perfect.
