Wedding Magician – Magic Showreel by Luc Amaden

In August 2022 I was booked to perform magic and mind-reading at the wedding of Ashleigh and Lester, at the wonderful Bishop’s Palace in Wells, Somerset.

What I love is that Luc didn’t try to capture the ‘trick’ but focussed on the reactions – which is way more powerful than a close-up of my hands turning a card over!

What I also love is that he filmed me doing stuff when I didn’t even know he was filming. Because of that he managed to captured genuine reactions. (You’d be surprised the number of videographers who tell guests to “look surprised” when watching a trick – the result is people feeling really self-conscious and obvious fake over-the-top reactions. Not good!)

I also love (can you spot the theme?!) the sense of movement, by not keeping the camera still it’s creating momentum and visual interest, but the slow-mo doesn’t make it feel crazy. The slow-mo also captures the split-second moments of surprise, which then turns into the reaction – something you miss at full speed, and something that can’t be faked.
